Halloween Special: Pairing 9 whiskies with classic horror movies

Halloween is on the doorstep so I'm dusting off my horror DVD's for a fright night with appropriate drams. Yes, you can call me old school, but there's still no sign of Netflix in ATD HQ.

I will once again pick 9 classic horror movies from my collection and pour a a matching whisky when the ladies of the house are asleep.

Bowmore's Tempest Batch was a range of 10 year old single malts whiskies from Islay's oldest distillery. This small batch matured exclusively in first-fill ex-bourbon casks and was bottled at cask strength, without chill-filtration and without additional colouring. The first batch from 2009 gained quite a stellar reputation.

Highland Park Magnus is the latest single malt from Highland Park. The whisky is exclusive to the USA and Canada. The expression is named after its founder, part-time smuggler, Magnus Eunson and may not be confused with Highland Park's Earl Magnus and Saint Magnus whiskies from a few years ago. Whisky World Animal Day

Scottish landscapes

Scotland is not only famous for its whiskies. It is home to some of the most beautiful landscapes and wildlife. As much as it is a destination for whisky tourists, the country attracts at least at much bird and deer spotters.

Numerous distilleries carry one of Scotland's famous animals in their logo: the deer. Others take pride in the river and its inhabitants or the eagles living nearby. Let's have a look at some of the more famous ones.
